The Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22 had been providing an array of special education services to both public and non-public schools in the tri-state area since 1971. Extended School Year services are required by law to ensure the provision of free appropriate public education (FAPE) for students with disabilities. The organization takes pride in its ability to provide flexible and individualized educational programming and services for students requiring skill maintenance during the summer break. To that end, in 2017 the Bucks IU ESY program served 900 students providing more than 1800 services at center-based, community-based and home-based locations through out the county.Bucks IU ESY center-based services operate for five weeks in Bucks County during the months of July and early August. Generally, all services are completed during this time period. However, case specific arrangements can be accommodated by request. The referral process begins in mid-January through June. The web-based referral can be found in mid-January on the ESY Forms page located on the left hand column of this page. Referrals should be completed by the designated IEP case manager and approved by the LEA prior to submission. The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is dedicated to providing high quality services to all Bucks and surrounding county schools at a reasonable cost.
