Guidelines For Teaching Chemistry & Guided Inquiry
Teachers will explore the new American Chemical Society Guidelines and Recommendations for Teaching High School Chemistry with one of its authors. Teachers will then gain some hands-on experience with Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) activities that they will be able to take away and incorporate directly into their classroom teaching. The evening will close with a short discussion on the new direction coming to the A.P. classroom and how the ACS and POGIL can play a role.

She will discuss the latest research on comprehension strategies for informational text, explore the use of digital media for whole, small, and individual instruction for true differentiation & connect strategy to common core.

This presentation will feature a research to practice format. The overall purpose is to provide information about the pivotal role of auditory brain growth and auditory exposure in the development of spoken communication, reading, social-emotional skills and cognitive functions in all children. Information will apply to all children, with an emphasis on children with hearing loss.

Lenore O´Donnell has been teaching 20+ years in Centennial School District. She is a math curriculum resource teacher who has presented workshops to her colleagues on the topic of differentiated instruction in math. ´Math Zone´ is a strategy for differentiating instruction that Lenore has implemented successfully in her classroom. It works with any math program, rotating groups of students through different math activities while the teacher works with small groups of students.
The purpose of this workshop is to deepen participants' understanding of the Common Core Mathematics Standards for Mathematical Practice. Participants will focus on grade-level specific mathematics content as they explore the topic of framing content instruction around the Practice Standards. Time will be provided for participants to locate and identify tasks (Audience K-5).
