BCIU Art Collection 60th Anniversary Celebration 1949 - 2009
In 1949, former Bucks County Schools Superintendent, Charles H. Boehm and local Bucks County artist, Walter Emerson Baum spearheaded a project to bring the rich art heritage of Bucks County, including the New Hope School of Art, a part of the internationally-recognized Pennsylvania Impressionist period, to the students of Bucks County schools. The project was known as the Traveling Art Gallery.
Over the years, the local artists continued to donate to the Traveling Art Gallery collection and to date the collection has grown to over 350 pieces including works by Walter Emerson Baum, Fern Coppedge, Daniel Garber, Charles Hargens, Edward Redfield, George Sotter, Ben Solowey, Walter Schofield, Maximilien Vanka, and many other Bucks County artists.
In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the dedication of the Traveling Art Gallery, please enjoy viewing this collection below.
