Act 45 Professional Education
Act 45 is a statewide, standards-based continuing professional education system for school and systems leaders requiring the acquisition of 180 hours of professional development within each five-year compliance period.* Its intent is to focus on developing the capacity of leaders to improve student achievement. Effective January 1, 2008, all school and system leaders must meet their Act 48 continuing professional education requirement in programs that address Pennsylvania’s three core and six corollary leadership standards. All active school and system leaders employed in the following positions are affected:
