Business Office

The Business Office oversses the fiscal and facility operations of the various programs operated within the Intermediate Unit.  These operations include all financial management, payroll, purchasing, facility, and student tracking operations provided in support of all IU programs.  The Business Office also provides administrative overview and support for the IU's Management Services, Printing, Cooperative Purchasing and attendance data for special education programs provided for the public school districts of Bucks County. 

ACCESS Services

Project ACCESS is a Pennsylvania Department of Education initiative to assist local school districts and intermediate units to obtain medical assistance reimbursements for qualified school services. The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is a Project ACCESS participant and is interested in helping our constitutent school districts participate in this program.  We may be able to help by processing school district medical assistance claims and set up individual ACCESS accounts with Leader Services and PDE. 

Cooperative Purchasing
Lisa DeLaurentis, Director, Purchasing/Facilities Services

The Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit acts as the administratiave arm and treasurer of the purchasing group and is responsible for the actual development, coordination, publication, tabulation and logistric control of all bids.  The final recommendation of each bid committee is presented to the Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit's Board of Directors for final approval or rejection.  The countywide bids include:  Audiovisual and IMS Supplies, Cafeteria Disposable Products, Cafeteria Small Equipment, Cafeteria Groceries, Soundfield Systems, Custodial Supplies, Fuel Oils, Mulch Chip and Soil, Lamps and Ballasts, New Tires and Recaps, Reprographic Paper, and General Office and School Supplies.

Financial Services
Paula Harland, Director of Financial Services

Financial Services coordinates the budget development process and system-wide accounting operations.  This office prepares and is responsible for all official financial reports of the Intermediate Unit including monthly Board of Directors reports, year-end financial reports, and Pennsylvania Department of Education program reports.  This department provides information required for completion of local, state and federal audits, investment of available cash, manages cash flow and financial record retention. 

Management Services

The Intermediate Unit offers a wide range of diverse management services to school district administrators.  These services include a variety of business and support operations developed in response to district requests.  These services are designated to achieve the kind of economics of scale only available to larger groups or to save individual districts from repetitive expenditures of resources on like projects. 

Payroll Services
Karen Shores, Payroll Manager

The Payroll Department is responsible for the preparation of employee paychecks, including the withholding of federal, state and local taxes, retirement contributions, Section 125 plan, 403(b) deferrals, and other voluntary deductions.  Payroll Services include the biweekly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation of tax and deduction accounts and year-end accountability reporting. 

Printing Services

The Printing Department offers a full range of printing operations from original copy to completed product using Macintosh desktop publishing equipment.  Materials can be printed from camera-ready or from source material requiring design layout and typesetting  The Printing Department has the capability to print carbon-less forms, posters, brochures, letterheads, memo pads, calendars, books, photographs, and line artwork in single color, duo-tone or multicolored inks using either offset presses or high speed color or monochrome copiers. 

Student Data (Penn Data)

Student tracking is a computerized information system which is coordinated by the Intermediate Unit and utilized by the school districts and IU to track the enrollment and programs offered to their special needs students.  This service provides state and federal agencies with child count information including summary information on all handicapped and gifted students required by these agencies to meet program and appropriation guidelines.
