Sandra Achenbach, MDS teacher
I am a multiple disability teacher who works at Point Pleasant Pediatric Special Care, a residential facility for medically involved children and young adults. This June I will complete 11 years in this position.
My caseload includes 8 children ranging from 6 to 18.
A typical day includes sensory stimulation activities, switch usage, leisure activities, computer time, vocational activities and group time. The students also participate in art, music and games on a weekly basis.
I have one teacher assistant, Regina Rutt, who has worked with me at Point Pleasant for many years. Regina truly loves the children and is a caring, wonderful person.
I really enjoy serving these students and celebrate every small victory they achieve.
