Movement Activities for Preschool Groups

The following are theme-based movement activities and ideas that are easily incorporated into the preschool classroom. They coincide very well with typical, seasonal themes. Some of the activities have been adapted from Learn to Move, Move to Learn by Jenny Clark Brack (2004) and the handouts have been created by the BCIU physical therapists. These pages are designed to be printed and used as handouts for parents, as carry-over strategies are also presented. Copies are also available in Spanish to accommodate certain families. All of these themes have been used within the BCIU specialized classrooms at Warwick Elementary School (Jamison, PA) and some have also been used in typical, community settings in which they too have been favorable, beneficial, and fun for both students and staff. If you have any questions on the movement activities or applications, please contact Tiffany Stretz, PT, DPT.
