Mission
As educational innovators, we ensure optimal growth of all learners by collaborating with
our school districts and community to initiate, design, and deliver exemplary leadership,
teaching and learning.
Purpose
The Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit has a rich history of providing the highest
quality professional development to the region’s educational community. This series will
bring internationally recognized speakers in technology, math/science, literacy, and leader-
ship to our area. The design for the series will provide a unique combination comprised of
face-to-face conferences couples with continuing professional development activities using
Web 2.0 technologies (e.g., Podcasting, Wikis, Blogs and more). Further, allowing per-
sons other than conference attendees to access these digital materials within the county,
state, and region will extend the value of this series.
Target
The target audience would include Central Office Administrators, Curriculum Directors, As-
sessment Coordinators, Elementary, Middle and High School Administrators, Aspiring Ad-
ministrators, Teacher Leaders, Reading Specialists, Literacy Coaches, Special Education
Administrators, Special Education Teachers, Regular Education Teachers, Language Arts
Supervisors, Professional Developers, English as a Second Language Teachers.
Objective
The objectives of creating a professional development series for Bucks County schools
would be as follows:
• Produce a high quality professional development series focusing on leadership, technology,
science/math, and creativity, imagination and the brain that would include a regional audience
of attendees from Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
• Utilize businesses to fund an educational series that would enable the I.U. to contract
3-5 quality speakers for the professionals of the county.
• Generate revenue by selling seats to out-of-county educators to replenish the seed
money so that the series becomes annual at no cost to the county.
