Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22
Brain Injury School Re-Entry Program
Each year, thousands of Pennsylvania’s children and adolescents survive acquired and traumatic brain injuries (ABI/TBI), many significant enough to require some hospitalization. These individuals are often left with some degree of difficulties in their academic functioning. The BCIU #22 Brain STEPS Program is supported by the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania (BIAPA). The BCIU #22 Brain STEPS Program is available to make sure that those who provide educational support to children with ABI/TBI have a good understanding of brain injury, the resulting challenges, and supports and interventions that will help these students achieve educational success through graduation.
We are available to provide support to students who suffer from a mild, moderate, or severe brain injuries, students who are already identified by the school as a having an ABI/TBI, and teachers, school psychologists, and administrators, who have a student with a brain injury and need some support how to create an optimal learning environment for these students.
BCIU #22 Brain STEPS Team members are available to provide training and consultation regarding school re-entry planning, IEP development, intervention selection and implementation, long-term monitoring of students and other issues professionals and students may face.
