Teacher Induction
Year One

The Induction Program of the Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit # 22 has a total of 10 professional development days. This program has been developed in order to provide high quality staff development on current trends within a welcoming environment. A continuous goal is to sustain professional growth through job-embedded opportunities throughout all educators’ careers. These days are conducted as follows:

  • Five (5) days in August of the year hired.  If hired after this occurs, the inductee will complete these days during the following August.
  • The equivalent of three (3) additional days throughout the year of the first year.  These often take the form of follow-up sessions throughout the year, professional development opportunities as assigned by a supervisor, and other opportunities as needed within a particular position.
  • The equivalent of two (2) additional days throughout the year of the second year.  These often take the form of follow-up sessions throughout the year, professional development opportunities as assigned by a supervisor, and other opportunities as needed within a particular position.

All newly-hired teachers to the Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit # 22 will participate in the induction process, regardless of previous experience. As teachers complete the induction process in its entirety (including all first and second year activities), an induction process certificate will be issued to the inductee for their records.
