Dear BCIU Team Member,

When I visit our classrooms, I am always amazed at the terrific student artwork that decorates each room!   I enjoy the artwork so much that I wanted to bring some of it to the main office center in Doylestown to showcase the talents of the students in our classrooms.  As a result, I am proud to share a new initiative to celebrate the arts in education.  Located just inside the BCIU office area of the second floor, you’ll now find a new display that proudly showcases artwork from students in BCIU classrooms!  Joanne Sutherland, BCIU Art Therapist, will work with all of you to identify and select pieces of artwork created by our own BCIU students to display for all to see in this new rotating exhibit.

Because it may be difficult to get to the office center in Doylestown to enjoy the artwork, I wanted to find a way to share these amazing pieces of art with all of you.  As such, Diana Walker, BCIU Digital Media Specialist & Special Projects Coordinator, has created an online media gallery.  You can find the link here: http://www.bucksiu.org/student_art_gallery

I encourage you to visit the website to support our students and their work!

As we update the gallery over time, we’ll be sure to update this webpage and let all of you know to visit to see the new additions!

Dear BCIU Team Member,

Last week, we launched a new video series to showcase the many wonderful things taking place in BCIU programs across the county.  This is an important step is building capacity and providing all BCIU team members with important information about the many wonderful programs we operate.  The first video provided an overview of our 2015-2016 BCIU organizational goals and objectives.  If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to watch it here:  Message from the Executive Director.

The second video is now available.  I was lucky enough to be invited to spend a few minutes talking about new BCIU initiatives with Jill Horner on Comcast Newsmakers.  I encourage you to watch it and learn more about our new Head Start, Early Head Start, and Mental Health and Wellness initiatives.  You can watch the video below.

In the coming weeks, I will be sharing more short videos with all of you.  These videos feature BCIU staff talking about their respective programs and serve as a great way for all staff to learn more about the many exciting things we do as an organization to benefit students, families, and schools across Bucks County.

Dear BCIU Team Member,

At Opening Day, I talked about the importance of all BCIU employees serving as both advocates for the children we serve and as ambassadors for the organization and for one another. To do that, it is important that we embrace proactive communication in which we share information and resources across the organization.  Given the diversity of programs we offer, as well as the large number of locations in which we work each day, sharing information with one another is not always the easiest thing to do.  To help, I will be sharing brief videos with you on a regular basis that feature intermediate unit staff and programs.  My goal is to ensure that these videos offer one more way for all of us to learn about the many wonderful things we do each day to support students and educators across Bucks County.

The first video in this series is located below and provides an overview of the 2015-2016 BCIU Organization goals.

If you would like to use these videos as a way to share highlights from your work, your classroom, or your program with the rest of the BCIU team, please let me know!

Dr. Hoffman
