RED CEDAR ACADEMY

WINTER DRESS CODE

In order to ensure that our students are worm enough when moving from building to building or during outside recess/physical education, we ask that they remove winter coats when inside their classrooms. We recommend a long sleeve shirt or sweater to stay warm and comfortable when inside. Many of our students prefer to wear hooded sweatshirts in place of outer jackets and are leaving them on during the school day. Because of the popularity of “hoodies” it has become necessary to establish the following guidelines regarding wearing them in school.

1. Heavy winter coats must be removed when students are in class.
2. Hooded sweatshirts may be worn with the following conditions:
a. The hood is not pulled over or covering the head.
b. The sweatshirt does not become a safety issue or
interfere with the classroom assignment.

Please keep in mind that any student who refuses to comply with these rules will be asked to remove their sweatshirt for the remainder of the day. To prevent students from being uncomfortably cold, long sleeved shirts will be available from the nurse’s office. If a student is continually uncooperative they may be restricted from wearing the sweatshirt for a specified amount of time. Hopefully, these guidelines will clear up any confusion regarding the dress code and help to make the winter season safe and warm for all of us.

Should you or your children have any questions about the above guidelines please feel free to contact my office for clarification.
